Building the Kingdom

Our Building the Kingdom theme this term - The Call to Family and Community - reminds us that we do not walk alone. We are called to look after our families, welcome the newcomer, and actively participate in our school and local communities to build a world where everyone thrives together.

Big Question: How can we show love and care to the people in our community?

Year 2 will be exploring the theme of Family and Community through the text Amazing Grace, by Mary Hoffman.

Through reading, discussion, and a range of writing, children will explore the importance of belonging, encouragement, inclusion and caring for others. They will reflect on how families and communities support us and consider how their own words and actions can help everyone to feel loved, valued and included. Inspired by Jesus’ words, “Love one another as I have loved you” (John 15:12), children will think about how they can use their gifts, kindness and small acts of service to help build God’s Kingdom by making our school and wider community a more loving and caring place.
