What is the LiveSimply award?

We achieved the Live Simply Award in February 2026. 

"The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it."

We are delighted that in February 2026, St Alban's was awarded the CAFOD Live Simply Award. This award recognises Catholic communities who respond to Pope Francis' call in Laudato Si' to care for our common home and for one another.

To achieve the award, our school community committed to three key areas:

• Living simply – reflecting on how we live, what we use and what truly matters, and choosing to live in a way that brings us closer to God and to each other.
• Living sustainably – caring for God's creation by reducing waste, looking after our environment and making choices that protect the world for future generations.
• Living in solidarity with people in poverty – standing alongside our global family, learning about the lives of people around the world, and taking action through prayer, fundraising and campaigning.

Achieving the award was a true team effort, involving our pupils, staff, families, governors and parish. Our children have led the way, showing how small actions, rooted in faith, can make a real difference.

Continuing the journey

Receiving the award was not the end of our work but the beginning of a lasting commitment. As a school community, we continue to live out the Live Simply values in our everyday life, from caring for our school grounds and reducing waste, to supporting CAFOD through events such as our Family Fast Day. We want our children to understand that loving God means loving our neighbour, both near and far, and caring for the world He has given us.

We are proud of all that our school family has achieved so far and look forward to continuing this important work together.
