On 11 July 2024, Archbishop Bernard Longley announced a new vision for Catholic education across the Archdiocese. This vision seeks to strengthen collaboration between schools by moving towards a model of shared responsibility, with all Catholic schools becoming part of a smaller number of strong and thriving Catholic Multi Academy Trusts (CMATs). Following extensive consultation, the Diocesan Trustees have approved the creation of a new CMAT, bringing together a number of existing academies and voluntary aided schools.
