Building the Kingdom
Autumn Term
Building the Kingdom: Family and Community
At Saint Alban’s, we believe that we are all part of one human family, created and loved by God. Our Building the Kingdom theme for Autumn Term – Family and Community encourages our school community to recognise the importance of the families and communities that we are part of. We are reminded that Jesus calls us to love, care for and support one another, just as we would care for members of our own family.
Throughout this theme, we will explore how our families and communities help us to feel loved, safe and valued, and how we can play our part in caring for others. We will learn that a community is made up of people who live, work, learn and worship together, and that everyone has a special part to play. By following Jesus’ example, we can show kindness, respect, forgiveness and compassion, helping to build a community where everyone feels welcome, included and valued.
We will link our Building the Kingdom theme to Family and Community by exploring how we can live out God’s love in our everyday relationships. Through our learning, worship and shared experiences, we will encourage children to think about how they can be a caring member of their family, school and wider community.
We are reading the book 'Pumkin Soup' by Helen Cooper which perfectly reflects how things always work out better when we do them together.
