Singing playground is a project with the Ex Cathedra Choir who work with CBSO (City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra). We attend events that train the song leaders. The training involves breaking down the songs into smaller parts and turning each part into a game, to enable the children to have fun whilst learning. The children respond positively and we have found that it encourages them to write their own songs and games which is fantastic.

Last year, we attended a big event called SPARKS where lots of primary schools across Birmingham came together. It was an enjoyable, high energy morning filled with singing and games.

There are now around 15 song leaders and we meet weekly on a Monday to learn new song. On Wednesday mornings, the song leaders go out and teach them to the children. It’s energising, fun and great for inclusivity and making friends outside of your usual friendship group
