Assessments

Art Assessment 

 

Summative assessment: Children are assessed each term on Insight by Teacher judgement. Children are assessed at the end of each half term by Mini Primary Knowledge Curriculum quizzes.

 

This shows teachers areas they may need to discuss during retrieval practise.

Formative assessment: Step for Depth questions used in each lesson.

Retrieval practise at the start of each lesson to allow children to know more and remember more.

Each class is assessed at the end of each topic through a mini quiz during class lessons. 

 

Sketchbooks and Skills 

 

Sketchbooks should be used to show the child's progression in their skills journey. 

We use our sketchbooks weekly in Art Lessons and give children regular verbal feedback to praise their skills and increase their confidence. 

We encourage children to use their sketchbooks to:

 

  • Design, select, develop ideas and organise thinking. 
  • Test out new materials and tools.
  • Explore techniques. 
  • Reflect on learning processes, offer peer support and evaluation.
