Year One enjoyed making jam tarts this term.
Lesson One:
We began by learning about the history of jam tarts and mince pies. We identified the difference between sweet pastry and plain pastry and finally sampled both jam tarts and mince pies.
Lesson Two:
In this lesson, we practised many vital cooking skills:
Once our jam tarts had cooled, we took them home to eat. They were delicious!
Lesson Three:
Once our jam tarts had cooled, we carried out an evaluation. We thought carefully about the following questions and talked to our partners to see what they thought.
Look and Evaluate
• Describe the different steps you took to make your pies.
• Do they look tasty? Why? Why not?
• What did you do well?
• If you made them again would you do anything differently?
• How could you present them so they look good to eat?
Taste and Evaluate
• Do you like it? Why? Why not?
• If you made them again would you do anything differently?
