This week for your homework, I want you to enjoy the Coronation celebrations. Please send pictures in of what you get up to over the weekend, maybe it is watching the coronation on TV and identifying Kings Edwards crown. You might decorate your house or garden before having a garden or street party. You might want to create a piece of artwork to display, bring this is so we can display it around our class.

Friday 3rd March 2023 

 

Dear children, 

 

This week, we have been extremely busy with starting our new topic 'Growing and Changing.' We have started to look at the seasons and how trees and the environment change during all four seasons. Today, I have sent home our new knowledge organiser and reading list. For those that have completed the Lenten charity homework from last week please draw a picture, paint a picture or create something to do with the seasons and bring in for our class display.

Unfortunately, we haven't had many videos for our Lenten charity over the last week. We will be voting for our charity on Monday afternoon so you still have the weekend to send your video to me.

Well done on completing another half term in Reception! It has been a very busy one with so much learning! 

 

This week, we started learning about Lent. I want you to think of a charity we could support during Lent, Think of the reasons you want us to support it. Send a little video, of your chosen charity and reason you want Reception to support it during Lent to my email. When we are back after half term, we will then vote on which charity we will use.

Dear children, 

 

Wow! What a wonderful week in school we have had. We have been looking at our phonics sounds, r, j, v & y. We have been looking at making 5 using two smaller numbers and we have started to say the equations using those numbers. 

 

We have started out new topic of 'Space.' We have looked at maps of Earth and tried to figure out how we can tell where water, land, beaches and deserts are. We have then been learning about Galileo and what his job was. 

 

For your homework this week, I want you to tell me about your favourite story book. 

 

You could: 

  • Paint a picture of your favourite character.
  • Write a simple sentence about why it is your favourite book.
  • Write a simple sentence about your favourite character. 
  • Create a poster about the story book.

Well done on another fabulous week in school! I am so proud of how hard you are all working each day in school. This week we have looked at the special friends th, ng and nk. We have been thinking about how we can be more like Jesus and what actions we can do to be like him. We have also spoke about how sometimes we have to say sorry for the wrong choices we make, we also have been practising the sign 'sorry' by using our fist to make circle on our heart. 

 

In maths, we have been looking at the number 4. For your homework this week, I want you to represent the number 4 in lots of different ways. Maybe you could use toys, lego, blocks or food.

Reception, we have had another busy, busy week in school. We have been learning all about Jesus feeding the five thousand in RE and learning about the disciples. We have been finding out about 'special friends' in phonics, two letters that make one sound. We have practised the sounds, z, x, sh and ch this week. 

 

For your homework this week, I want you to go on a shape hunt around your house, shops or garden. See if you can find some objects that are shaped like a triangle or circle. Once you have found some take a picture and send it to reception@stalbanrc.bham.sch.uk.

I hope you have enjoyed your very busy week. We have been learning all about Bonfire night and how to stay safe. We have read the stories The Wedding at Cana and Jesus goes to the Temple from the Bible and have painted pictures of Mary. We have been learning to read and write the sounds j,v,y & w in phonics and we have been busy representing numbers in maths. 

 

For your homework this week, 

I want you to design and make a cross to use to pray at home with your family. 

  1. Create your cross using what you have at home. You may use lego, beads, sticks or cardboard. 
  2. Use the cross to pray with your family for the people who have died. Don't forget to include in your prayers those who have died who have no one to pray for them.

For your homework this week, I want you to spend some time with your family, praying and thanking God for all of the things He has created. 

 

You could:

- Create a special prayer focus somewhere at home. (This could include a candle, Bible, cross, pictures of Jesus.)

- draw or paint a picture to place on your prayer focus. 

- Place some objects on your prayer focus that God has created. 

 

During your time of prayer, you could:

- Each thank God for the things he has created. 

- Read the Creation story from the Bible.

Dear children, 

 

For your homework this week, I would like you to go on a nature walk. On your walk, talk about what you can see that God created. I want you to collect some items from your walk, can you find any of the below items and bring them in to school?

  4. different shapes and coloured leaves.

 

If you find any of these items, bring them in to school and you will be able to place them on to our prayer table in our classroom and say thank you to God for creating them.
