Homework Expectations
Reading / Phonics
It is crucial that you read with your child as much as possible, preferably daily, at least three times per week. Children will be given new Phonics and Library books on a weekly basis. Phonics speed sounds videos will be sent to parents/carers on a Friday to recap the sounds learned in school that week.
Spellings
From the Spring term, children will receive a weekly list of spellings on a Friday. Your child will be tested on these spellings the following week. We recommend using the “look, say, cover, write, check” strategy to support learning. The more your child sees their spelling words and uses them in everyday life, the better they will remember them.
Maths
Children are expected to complete one workout per week in their CGP Maths homework books. Maths homework should be handed in on a Thursday to be marked. Children can also practise their maths using Numbots to help improve their mathematical fluency.
