Maths is a key part of the Year 6 SATs, assessing children's fluency with numbers, calculation methods, problem-solving, and reasoning skills. The SATs consist of three maths papers:
📅 Wednesday 14th May 2025 – Paper 1: Arithmetic (tests quick and accurate calculations)
📅 Wednesday 14th May 2025 – Paper 2: Reasoning (tests problem-solving and applying maths in different contexts)
📅 Thursday 15th May 2025 – Paper 3: Reasoning (similar to Paper 2, but with different question types)
To help with revision, we have provided a range of useful resources, including:
âž• Calculation Methods – Step-by-step guides to key operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
âž• Reasoning & Problem-Solving Practice (to be sent home with the children each week) – Questions to help develop deeper mathematical thinking.
âž• Arithmetic Practice Papers (to be sent home with the children each week) – Build fluency and speed in calculations.
We highly recommend the White Rose Maths videos, which clearly explain the calculation methods taught in school. You will also find links to Third Space Learning and Corbett Primary Maths, both of which provide excellent revision materials, practice questions, and video explanations.
